DDA Productions

DDA Productions was formed in 1997, to produce the European Film Awards under the auspices of the European Film Academy. DDA was involved at every stage from the event itself through to the international TV broadcast. We were also involved in other internationally recognised festivals and events.

Each year in December, one major European city is the focus of the international film industry. On the first Saturday of the month, the best of Europe’s filmmakers, the biggest European stars and the hottest newcomers, as well as other important domestic and international entertainment industry figures and politicians meet at the party of the year.

Since its beginnings in 1988, the European Film Awards Ceremony has developed into one of the most prestigious and exciting film events held in Europe.

The 10th annual awards ceremony (DDA ’s first) took place in Berlin in December 1997. The European Film Academy’s home is Berlin and its financing comes from the German National Lottery, The German State Minister for Culture and the Media and Filmboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Its annual flagship event therefore reverts there biennially and to another European capital in-between. In 1998, the European Awards were held in London, the 2000 Awards in Paris, the 2002 show in Rome, the 2004 show took place in Barcelona and in 2005 Berlin.

DDA Productions was responsible for all international broadcast sales, sponsorship and marketing for the European Film Awards.

The post-Awards party and the international press & publicity were the responsibility of DDA Productions sister companies, DDA Event Management and DDA Public Relations.

DDA Productions has in recent years worked closely with the Taormina BNL Film Festival, part of Taormina Arte, an international summer-long festival dedicated to music, theatre and dance as well as to cinema. The team ran the international press office for the Festival and was actively involved in talent co-ordination for this Sicily-based event. The main aim of the Festival is to promote international cinema through the screening of features and shorts.

DDA Productions worked with the Festival du Film Britannique du Dinard (a French festival of British titles, un-released in France) since 1995, managing the international press and publicity during the Festival. DDA co-ordinates all UK film talent invited to attend and with the UK Film Council, the Jury and all UK film industry representatives.
