ALICE IN WONDERLAND
The Royal World Premiere of ALICE IN WONDERLAND on February 25th at the Odeon Leicester Square quickly became a star-spotter's version of Alice's Adventures in Waterland, as a continuous downpour soaked the bright green carpet. The torrential rain, however, failed to dampen the spirits of either the massed ranks of fans or of the guests attending this Royal occasion, held in the presence of TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, in aid of The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts. Director Tim Burton and producers Joe Roth and Richard D. Zanuck were joined by the film's stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowska, Matt Lucas, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, Paul Whitehouse, Timothy Spall, Barbara Windsor and Sir Christopher Lee, with soundtrack composer Danny Elfman and singer Avril Lavigne. Other celebrity guests included Daisy Lowe, David Walliams, James Corden, Paloma Faith, Sharon Osbourne, Lily Cole, Alice Temperley, Alice Dellal, Lulu Guinness, Harry Enfield, Dame Vivienne Westwood, Terry Gilliam, Nicholas Haslam, Sharleen Spiteri, Gabriella Cilmi, Pixie Geldof and Marina and the Diamonds.
Tim Burton's magical and imaginative ALICE IN WONDERLAND is inspired by Lewis Carroll's beloved "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass" and is brought to the big screen in ground-breaking Disney Digital 3DTM and features stunning avant-garde visuals. The film sees Alice embarking on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen's reign of terror and marks a return to Disney for director Tim Burton ("The Nightmare Before Christmas," "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"). Incorporating characters, story elements and the central themes from both of Carroll's books, Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND features a new adventure as 19-year-old Alice returns to Wonderland for the first time since she was a child with no memory of her previous adventures there.
ALICE IN WONDERLAND is released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and will open in the UK on MARCH 5, 2010
